When the students of the ski and snowboard team at South Kent were getting ready to board the bus it was apparent that everyone was eager to get the day underway. “Kids were there to have and do what they love,” says Sixth Former Sean Pearson. As one could tell, it looked like everyone was having a great time.

When the bus arrived at Mohawk Mountain in Cornwall, CT, all the riders tried their hardest to get to the lift first. Some could barely contain themselves. For example, Sixth Former Cody Luongo was jumping in the air while screaming his lungs off, because he was so excited to get up on the mountain. After about a 10-minute chair lift all got to the top of the mountain. A group picture was taken and then everyone headed down the mountain.

The whole group naturally broke off into smaller sections of students, who were more similar in their partners’ riding ability. The runs went by quickly. That is mainly because of the amount of enjoyment each rider was experiencing. The riders’ abilities have improved greatly daily and throughout the season. There are a few veterans and a lot of beginners.

As this has been one of the best riding seasons, the riders were enjoying a lot more shredding down the mountain. There has been over 70 inches of snow this winter, so the riders got a lot more opportunities to have fresher powder on the mountain. The group sends out a special thank you to Mr. Richardson for making this “special event” happen day in and day out.
